Frymaster A Welbilt Brand

Broken Fryer? K&D Factory Service is a National Frymaster Parts Distributor

It’s another hectic day in your commercial kitchen. The menu prep and food orders are constant. Suddenly, without warning, you hear a mechanical “pop” from your Frymaster-and the noise has nothing to do with the hot oil inside.

Equipment failure can happen to any business, but when it derails your regular cooking routine, you’re stuck. You can only adjust your menu for so long, particularly if fried foods are top requests. You can’t afford a brand new fryer right now, either.

The simple answer is to call K & D Factory Service Inc. Because we’re a national Frymaster parts distributor, we can ship anywhere in the country.

How to Troubleshoot a Frymaster Deep Fryer

Examine the gas supply. Make sure the main gas supply valve is turned on. If it's switched on but you can't light the Frymaster, it's possible that your pilot orifice is clogged or that there's air in the gas pipes. With a steel brush, clean around the pilot orifice to remove any debris that may be clogging the device and stopping the flame from lighting. Check that the flexible gas hose is attached properly and that the fryer is turned on. If you have a filtration device, check to see if the drain valve is completely closed.

Check the burners. Turn the burner knob to the on position and light the flame. Your burner orifices may be clogged if the flames are only on one side or are not lit equally all around. Relight after turning off the flame and cleaning the orifices with a wire brush.

Check temperature issues. Use a thermostat to check the temperature of the oil. Your thermostat could be out of calibration, the knob or flexible shaft on the thermostat shaft is loose, the thermostat wire is disconnected from the device or broken or the thermostat is faulty if the temperature does not remain around the set point.

Deal with oil filtration issues. Check to see if the pump is running. If the pump is running but the oil is not being circulated through the filter, check the filter paper and its size. Examine the bottom of the filter pan to ensure that the O-rings are in place.

Why is my Frymaster deep fryer not working?

The most common problems with deep fryers, including the Frymaster, are power and burner issues.

Issues with the power supply:

If your Frymaster isn't working properly, it could be due to a power issue. If the unit will not turn on at all, check the circuit breaker, ensure the unit is plugged in properly and verify your settings are correct.

Issues with the burner:

Turn on the burners and visually inspect them to ensure that the flame is working throughout the burner. If only a portion of the burner has a flame, turn it off and inspect for any clogs, dirt or debris that may be causing the problem. If it becomes clogged, use a dry cloth to remove any debris.

If your burner is making a lot of noise, your pressure may be too high or too low. It could also be the result of a blockage. You can resolve these issues by lowering the pressure or removing the blockage.

If you are still having problems with temperature control, power control or any other issue, you should contact a professional technician. K&D Factory Service can help solve any issues you’re having with your Frymaster. Contact us to schedule service.

How do you maintain a Frymaster commercial deep fryer?

Maintain your Frymaster by following these steps:

  1. At the end of each service, always clean the fry baskets. When the day has come to an end and your fry oil has cooled, wipe down your fry baskets and clean them of any crumbs. Place the baskets in the dishwasher after removing any foreign particles. Allow the baskets to dry completely before reusing them in the fryer to avoid oil splattering caused by the water.
  2. Every six months, boil out your fry pot. Drain all of the oil from your Frymaster and fill it with the appropriate cleaning solution and warm water. Turn on the fryer and bring the water to a safe simmer. After it has simmered for a while, carefully scrub the vat with a bristle brush. Allow the water to simmer for an hour after scrubbing, then drain and refill the vat with oil.
  3. The heating element should be cleaned. After you've cleaned or filtered your fry oil, make sure to brush and clean the heating elements as well. This will aid in the proper transfer of heat.
  4. Conduct yearly inspections. Regular annual inspections of your Frymaster will ensure that it is in good working order. Maintaining the major parts will increase its lifespan and improve the quality and taste of the food you serve.
