Preventative Maintenance
K & D Factory Service was founded in 1945 by Spark Dixon and his wife Elsie. With only a small storefront, no employees, and a determination to succeed they were determined to make their business a success. Those who have had the pleasure of meeting Spark, must agree that he had a vision, that vision was to be the best in customer service. He started off in domestics and then ventured into commercial appliances. This proved to be the road to success for the Dixons. Mr. Dixon passed away in 1983 and was survived by his wife Elsie who continued being a part of this company until her passing in 1996.
K & D Factory Service, Inc., as we know it today has evolved much since the one store front in 1945. By 1971 K&D had evolved into five branches (Allentown, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Williamsport and Scranton). A sixth branch, K&D York office, opened in 1986. Ronald Ross and Carol Dibeler, who are relatives of the Dixons, own the company today. Both Carol and Ron have the Dixons' vision and a plan to carry the company into the next millennium. We now employ more than 50 people, of whom more than half are service technicians. We represent more than 50 different commercial food service manufacturers including cooking and refrigeration equipment. Today we carry more than $1 million in parts inventory
Mr. Dixon was one of the founders of the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association (CFESA). The organization started in 1963 with 14 original members. Today the organization has grown to more than 300 members representing all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Puerto Rico. We , at K&D, are certainly proud of our heritage and our involvement with the CFESA organization.
